What is a Neighbourhood Plan?
Bythorn and Keyston Parish Council have started the legal process required to enable the development of a
Neighbourhood Plan. This is to support local residents, homeowners & landowners in having their say on the scale
and type of developments that will make a positive contribution to our community.
The initial phase was to request that Bythorn and Keyston Parish be designated as a ‘Neighbourhood Area’ and formally registered with our local development control authority, Huntingdonshire District Council, who have accepted and approved this request.
So what is a Neighbourhood Plan?
Written by the local community, the people who know and love the area, rather than the local planning authority.
Neighbourhood planning gives communities the ability to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of their local area. They can aid with choosing where new homes, shops and offices can be built, have their say on what those new buildings should look like and what infrastructure should be provided. Neighbourhood planning provides a powerful set of tools for local people to plan for the types of development to meet their community’s needs and where the ambition of the neighbourhood is aligned with the strategic needs and priorities of the wider local area.
